The news is changing daily and new directives from federal and state governments have been issued that affect Canaan Congregational Church. In efforts to stem the tide of infection from COVID-19, all gatherings of 10 or more people are postponed until further notice. And people older than 60 years and those with underlying health conditions have been directed to stay in their homes except for solitary exercise and necessary trips to grocery stores, pharmacies, and to seek medical care.
This is sad news after all the congregation has faced in the last few years to stay on its feet and continue to gather together. In the meantime, Pastor Charlie will be posting news and devotional pieces on the church’s Facebook page and distributing news via the all-church email list. Pastor Charlie asks that the congregation share links and news with church friends and family members.
This is a very difficult time for everyone; however, it is good to remember that even the worst of times will pass. Be patient, kind to yourselves and each other, and know that you are part of a wider community that loves you very much.

A final thought from St Teresa of Avila:
Let nothing disturb thee.
Let nothing frighten thee.
All things are passing,
But God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing.
God alone suffices.
